Placing sustainability at the core of our business we understand that the design, construction, operation and management of buildings has a significant effect on the local and global environment.

We focus our design approach not just on energy conservation but always look at ways to make a project sustainable into the future to meet the changing needs of its users.

Our aim is to be always informed on current research and debate and to promote sustainable developments. All of our projects are assessed during the design stage and an environmental strategy is developed. This influences the choice of materials and components specified for the building fabric, for heating, cooling, lighting and ventilation as well as taking into account pollution, depletion and life cycle analysis. We have an in-house code assessor qualified to advise us on how best to achieve agreed environmental standards and to future-proof our designs to be flexible enough to last a lifetime. Nearly all of our projects are designed to target a minimum BREEAM rating of very good and Code for Sustainable Homes rating of 3 or 4.

We promote the use of renewable energy sources and design our buildings to benefit from natural daylighting, cooling and heating. Working alongside environmental consultants and landscape architects, we ensure that negative impact on the site and the wider environment is minimised.

In order to design and realise high quality, environmentally friendly buildings we always consider:

  • Both the built and the natural environment.
  • Energy strategies for heating, cooling, lighting and ventilation.
  • Materials specified to reduce depletion and pollution.
  • Life cycle cost analysis.

Whatever the size of scheme Clague aim to integrate the very latest thinking in sustainable design into our buildings combining this with our track record for visual quality in order to achieve truly outstanding results.
