Kent County Cricket Club is proposing to redevelop the ground with a mix of new facilities. This will create a vibrant atmosphere and guarantee a year-round business that will be a real asset to the City.
The ground development plans fall broadly into three categories:
A Ground to be proud of
Enhanced cricket facilities will include an overhaul of the stands and seating around the ground, practice facilities, a physiotherapy/rehabilitation unit (for club and public use), improved club offices, improved match day hospitality, academy, floodlights and a fully refurbished ground.
A Year Round Business
The additional businesses to be based at the St Lawrence Ground include a hotel, a health and fitness centre, restaurant/bars, a Multiple Sclerosis Society centre, a club retail shop, museum and conference facilities. This year round business will help ensure the financial security of KCCC into the future.
Enabling Development
In order to enable the above projects, the club are planning residential developments in two areas of the ground
The two areas of the ground that have been identified for development are the Bat & Ball car park and the current practice net area. The Bat & Ball car park area would consist of 44 homes, whilst the practice net area would have 24 homes. These will include a mix of housing tenure types, in order to appeal to families, couples and young professionals alike.
