To satisfy the outline planning approval obligation of the section 106 agreement, Heath Farm was designated for the provision of all of the playing field requirements. Apart from the obligated provisions, a survey was carried out to find out what sports uses the majority of the residents would take part in. Within the S106 agreement was the obligation to provide changing facilities but due to the survey of residents it became apparent that there was a need for an enhanced pavilion.
The building sits cut into the side of the hill which links two of the playing pitches. The lowest pitch allows the building to provide a terraced stand for spectators with a small viewing area outside of the social area. Accessed from the social space on the South side of the building is a large outside terrace which looks up to the pitches at a higher level. The pavilion has been designed to sit within the landscape and be sympathetic in terms of mass and choice of materials. It provides interest by varying the scale and the layering of the different elements.
