Clague’s experience in the architecture of hospitality demonstrates an ability to create innovative designs that allow our clients to develop successful buildings. It is easy to say that we design buildings that meet and exceed our clients’ aspirations, but it is the listening and thinking process together with experience that goes into examining those aspirations that really makes the difference. At Clague we understand the commercial realities of the leisure and hospitality business. Our experience includes work directly with hotel operators and developers, as well as being involved as part of multidisciplinary design and build teams for complex hospitality commissions.

Understanding

Working closely with knowledgeable hoteliers has enabled us to develop a detailed understanding of the hospitality industry to inform our designs to both enhance the drama of the guest experience while addressing the operational essentials. We understand the need to design flexible, efficient buildings yet with a sense of place that will inspire guests; buildings which will become profitable businesses for our clients and that will become destinations in their own right.

Our designs recognise the importance of costs, using advanced building techniques and design awareness to create a hotel that is both cost-effective to run and efficient to manage in both the front and back of house with the minimum number of staff.

At the same time we can ensure that the experience for our clients’ customers is as satisfying as possible with a strong sense of arrival, the comfort of our clients’ branding giving reassurance, and all the facilities that guests expect being clearly available.

On time and to budget

We specialise in project planning to allow designs to be turned into reality on time and to budget while being as future-proof as possible to accommodate both new facilities and specification upgrades in a cohesive way. Essentially we accept and understand our clients’ constraints and work within them to share a goal to create a complete environment, designing buildings and spaces around them that take account of the context in which we work.

Listed building refurbishment

Our skills in the specialist area of listed building refurbishment are illustrated by our work on the recently completed Grade I listed Luton Hoo Hotel Golf andSpa, which achieves a five star status while sensitively responding to its historicsetting.This challenging project shows Clague’s ability to work with EnglishHeritage and the local authorities to recreate a successful building that respondsto a challenging planning situation while addressing the commercial aspirations of the client.

Sport and Leisure

Clague’s experience in sport and leisure ranges from educational recreation facilities and private sport clubs up to five star health spas and a first division football stadium.
