PRIVATE RESIDENTIAL COMMISSIONS
Our extensive collective experience as residential designers ensures we have a clear understanding of our client’s commercial needs and expectations. We seek to maximise development value whilst recognising townscape, social, ecological and environmental issues, which means we have a holistic approach to all of our residential schemes. This particular understanding of developers’ and private clients’ needs, together with our commercial edge, has often resulted in unique and unexpected forms and spaces, such as roof gardens, high level terraces, swimming pools, gyms, double-height volumes and the optimisation of such structures as roof spaces and undercrofts. We also offer a garden design service, which, when integrated with our architecture, often results in rich, diverse and beautiful residential environments.
The practice has developed good working relationships with Local Planning Authorities throughout the UK and indeed a number of our residential schemes have informed county design standards, such as the Kent Design Guide, which cites three Clague schemes as exemplars of best-practice development.
Today our design tools are much increased with the extensive use of new technology, from computer aided design to complex and detailed 3D computer modelling of our proposals in context, to better illustrate our thinking to both clients, stakeholders and planning decision makers.
This approach to our residential work has resulted in us and our clients receiving a number of prestigious regional and national awards such as Kent Design Awards, National Homebuilder Design Awards and Gold Awards from Building for Life; a collaboration between the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) and the House Builders Federation.
