WIXAMS, ELSTOW, BEDFORDSHIRE
Clague are Masterplanners of Wixams, which is amongst the largest new communities currently proposed in the UK. Our masterplan aims to create an attractive new market town of some 4,500 new dwellings divided into four villages arranged around a town centre. The vision for this new community also incorporates a proposed new railway station and a large employment area.
The masterplanning for each of the four villages sees open space and landscape working together with buildings to create distinctive places influenced by Bedfordshire’s traditional towns and villages and the English picturesque. The proposed movement strategy has seen an innovative and collaborative approach with consultants, developers and local authorities to take advantage of the existing topography and prioritise the easy movement of cyclists and pedestrians.
Clague’s extensive involvement in the Wixams project includes;
· Revised Masterplan for Wixams
· Detailed design of Village One Mixed Use Central Area
· Illustrative layout and preparation of Design Code for Village Two.
