The determination of the planning application has been a prolonged process requiring several amendments to the proposals to address objections / concerns raised by the Parish Council and neighbours.  The proposed contemporary flat roofed solution was initially challenged by the planning officer as not being “in keeping” with the varied character of the sites context which frustrated the process and required additional justification before it was eventually supported, and the scheme was recommended for approval.

In light of the above it was pleasing to hear four of the Councillors comment that they liked the design at the site and planning committee meetings.

The house has been designed to be sustainable and is striving towards having net zero carbon emissions in use.  A MMC construction methodology is proposed, utilising SIPS / closed panel timber frame panel construction to achieve a highly insulated and air tight building fabric.  The roof is to be finished with a green roof to increase the biodiversity value of the site.  Heat pump technology is to be used to provide space heating and domestic hot water.   The roof of the proposed house and outbuilding are to accommodate a photovoltaic array to generate electricity which is to be stored within a battery system when not required.

We are looking forward to working with our client to develop the technical design, procurement and construction phases in the coming months.
