ST MARGARET’S: The owners of Wallets Court Hotel at Westcliffe are planning to convert the spa facility into a private home.
The owners of the former medieval manor house are applying for planning consent from Dover District Council.
Part of a report, by experts commissioned by the applicants, reads: “T]).e spa facilities and operations are costly, uncommercial and unprofitable. Continued investment in supporting these operations is not appropriate or viable.”
The application includes a detailed history of the Grade II listed Wallets Court including a list of former owners going back to William the Conqueror’s
half brother, Bishop Odo, in the 11th century, followed by Edward I and his wife Eleanor.
