The project follows a long relationship with Barton Court Grammar School, having produced an initial masterplan, Clague have assisted the school to secure planning approval, and obtain funding through the Education Skills Funding Agencies (ESFA) Condition Improvement Fund (CIF), before completing the Technical Design to enable Jenner to successfully complete the construction phase of the project.
The adoption of BIM has enabled the team to virtually construct the building prior to the project hitting site. This level of coordination brought more certainty to the construction phase of the project, reducing risk, bringing more reliability to the programme. This working method enabled us to quickly test ideas with the school; including the ceiling treatment within the dining hall, where the school took some convincing that an exposed soffit with vertical acoustic baffles and industrial pendant light fittings were the right solution.
