I settled on the London to Brighton Challenge. No, not the bike ride, but a 100km run, which I shall need to complete in under 15 hours or I’ll be counted as a casual walker. An image of the approximate route is included here:
Now I have never ran anywhere near this distance before (why would I!?!) and so I have devised a 40 week training plan which I am following religiously. I now have around 3 months left until the event which is on the 27th May 2017. Because this is something which I have never attempted before I decided to write a weekly blog documenting my training (https://joshdog84.wordpress.com), more for an aid for me but hopefully also providing any readers with encouragement to get running their selves! Feel free to check it out. A new post is published every Sunday.
Aside from challenging myself, one of the other reasons why I am taking on this challenge is to raise much needed funds for Clague’s charity of the year, Pilgrim’s Hospice. I’ve had several family members who have been cared for by hospice’s throughout Kent. Raising some funds for Pilgrim’s Hospice will go a long way in improving the level of care which hospices in Kent are able to provide. I have set myself a target of raising £515 on my JustGiving page (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Joshua-Neal2) but I am sure that with your help I will be able to raise much more than this. Any and all donations are hugely appreciated, by Pilgrim’s Hospice and myself. Thanks for taking the time to read this and any support which you can offer.
