This week we were very pleased to receive confirmation that our planning application for the expansion of Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys in Canterbury has been granted planning approval.
The proposals include a new classroom block, extension to the existing dining hall, along with associated external works to provide car parking and a bus turning area.
Having originally prepared a feasibility study for the expansion on behalf of Kent County Council, we are now working with Baxall Construction Limited who have recently commenced construction of the initial phase of works on site, before moving onto the construction of the classroom block. We look forward to providing further updates as the project develops on site.
The new classroom block adopts a MMC, closed panel timber frame construction methodology, once complete the project will provide 13 new general classrooms and 3 ICT / Business Classrooms to enable the expansion of the school along with the removal of the existing temporary classrooms that are no longer fit for purpose.
Well done to all those involved with the project, including; KCC, Baxall Construction Limited, Crofton, HOP, 3BM, Lizard Landscape Design and Ecology and Streif.
Watch this space for future updates.
