Planning was unanimously approved at committee for a new Clague designed squash court and sports pavilion along with 900 student units and a160 bed hotel offer.
As part of the developments at the university we are delighted to be involved in the specialist design of a new squash court and sports pavilion.
The sports pavilion will provide a much needed provision for the St Edmunds school as well as a community use. Overlooking the long established cricket ground and incorporating changing rooms for opponent teams and game officials the new building also has a 1000 square feet of social space served by a bar and kitchen.
The squash court will be a greatly improved replacement of the existing cramped building currently used by Canterbury Squash club and feature 5 new courts with viewing gallery at first floor and club house bar. The changing rooms have sufficient for visiting teams and separate facilities for St Edmunds’s students.
By combining the road layout there is sufficient space for coach drop-off and waiting as well as ample parking bays for cars for both users and visitors.
