The former commercial garage site just off the High Street is the last of the large brownfield sites remaining in the village centre and being walking distance from the mainline railway station and village facilities has the potential to be a very sustainable extension to the existing community reducing pressure on the greenbelt around the village edge. The very attractive and sought after village which lies at the heart of the Chilterns AONB is famous too as the former home of author Roald Dahl and the very popular Museum to his writing is located just across the High Street.
Clagues scheme design is a sensitive response to the immediate setting which includes many Listed Buildings. The proposal employs a linear layout of varied terraced houses and cottages of traditional architectural language celebrating the materiality and detailing of the historic village which is located on an old coaching route to London.
