Despite the lockdown our Ellington Park project in Ramsgate is advancing toward a start on site. Work has begun off-site on the metalwork that will be installed as part of the restoration of the Victorian Bandstand that forms the central focus of the park. Following initial survey work on the existing structure, including paint samples to identify the original colours that have been painted over through the years, the ornate features that have been lost are being cast and prepared, ready for the on-site work that will begin soon.
The restoration of the bandstand is part of a wider regeneration project that was awarded Heritage Lottery Funding last year, and includes extensive repairs to the paths and landscaping, a new play park and much needed café and toilet facility.
