CATs College

Designs for new teaching and student residence blocks for CATS College Canterbury began life as an entry to an invited Architectural Design Competition. The proposal provides 1361sqm of additional teaching space together with associated foyer, office and support facilities and 36 no. en-suite student bedrooms.

The internal layout was amended to allow the student accommodation to function independently of the teaching accommodation and a new ‘temporary’ facade created to the previously hidden building. A cedar and brick arrangement was created with a new feature bay window marking the main student entrance and a lawn created within the site of the teaching accommodation.

The project was completed in August 2011 ready for the 2011/12 academic year and achieved BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard. Shortly after completion Clague were given instruction to commence contract information for the teaching accommodation which was completed in August 2012.
