Kingsnorth Primary School

Kingsnorth Church of England Primary School in Ashford, Kent, needed the help of Clague Architects to extend and modernise its facilities. Clague developed the concept for its designs in collaboration with the school and its governors. Working with a budget of £135,000, the plans involved relocating the reception area to become the new heart of the school and extending the existing office buildings. The new spaces provided the school with much improved teaching facilities and brings the school premises up to modern teaching standards.

The concept for Kingsnorth CEP’s extension was developed by working closely with the school and its governors. The school felt it needed to modernise its facilities and opted to do this by extending and improving existing buildings.

Our designs for the school involved extending both the existing office and improving the main entrance area. The overall vision was to move the school’s reception into the heart of the school and become a hub for staff, pupils and visitors.

Working within the school’s modest budget of £135,000, which included all professional fees, the resulting extension created an open and welcoming reception area that has become the centre of school activity.

Children and teachers now circulate past the new reception desk, allowing reception and administration staff to monitor the activities of the school.

In addition to the enhanced reception, the new PPA and administration rooms provide vastly improved teaching facilities to bring the site up to modern teaching standards.
