The New Town Road site had been vacant for a number of years, following the move of Ashford’s International Model Railway Museum, and the yellow-brick designs put forward by ourselves reflect the railway heritage of the area.
The option to deliver high quality apartments in the centre of the town, on a site vacant for many years and increasingly viewed by the community as an eyesore, was a compelling one for Ashford Borough Council.
Our design for the site on New Town Road means there will be new apartment blocks in the centre of the town, boosting local retailers, restaurants and the night-time economy.
Working closely with Ashford Borough Council and the development’s consultant team, we were instrumental in East Street Homes successfully submitting its plans for 93 one- and two-bed apartments.
Located close to the Ashford Designer Outlet Centre and a short walk from the domestic and international railway stations, the Klondyke development is aimed at the town’s growing community of first time-buyers and young professionals.
East Street Homes is a London company specialising in bringing forward brownfield sites and buildings for residential development. It is anticipated the new apartments will generate interest in in the redevelopment of the nearby New Town Works and boost the town’s economy.
Our planning application received no objections from statutory consultees, before going on to secure planning officers’ support and unanimous approval. The development will send out yet another positive message about Ashford and its commitment to growth.
