Located on a vacant site close to the Warren Country Park and enjoying the benefit of sea views, the new school is designed as an adaptation of the EFA Baseline Designs, and comprises 1385sqm of accommodation split over two storeys. The building is presented as a modern, clearly articulated and welcoming learning environment, with materials carefully selected to provide a balance between calm rhythmic order and vibrant activity. With sustainability an important factor from the outset, the design solution integrates natural lighting and ventilation, thermal mass and renewable energy technologies within a considered and economical building envelope.
The project is one of KCCs first schemes in which a fully collaborative BIM (Building Information Modelling) approach has been used. Currently under construction, the building was completed in August 2016.
