Megger Factory

Clague Architects was engaged in a multi-million pound investment, to provide innovative designs to increase productivity and strengthen working relationships within Megger, a leading international electrical test company based in Dover, Kent. Our successfully submitted plans created opportunities to enhance product development and ensure an outstanding welcome to new talent in the commercial sector.

Established in Dover in the 1960s, Megger Instruments manufacturing and operations base was in need of redevelopment so it could continue to grow. Clague was contracted to help create the designs for the refurbishment.

Together, we successfully submitted plans to Dover District Council – the plans included a new building to create a service, repair and training centre for its cable fault and test system vehicles. There was also a strong focus on redesigning the existing building to enable the engineering and manufacturing teams to work more closely together. By doing this, we created an opportunity in which product development and productivity could be enhanced.

This first phase of the multi-million pound investment is under way and will be followed by the redevelopment of Megger’s main factory. This will create a flexible space where the

company will undertake its high-tech engineering, design, development and manufacture of new electrical measurement products.

Our designs improved the exterior of the building, reception areas and shared spaces for all 260 highly skilled staff, as well as visitors.

When finished, Megger’s offices will present a striking welcome to those arriving and leaving the town.

The new investment will help the company to recruit and retain key talent as it continues to grow, creating a modern, inspirational working environment with office views out across the English Channel.
