RAF BENTLEY PRIORY

Clague were appointed by Barratt North London to develop the detailed design (RIBA Stage 4) of 87 prestigious luxury homes set within the grounds of Bentley Priory

A Grade II* listed building surrounded by registered parkland near Stanmore, on the north edge of London. The house and grounds had been used as Headquarters for Fighter Command during the Second World War and decommissioned in 2008. A Planning consent had previously been secured to the design of Robert Adam Ltd.

The prestigious development at Bentley Priory strives to create the complete environment with a diverse mix of homes including detached houses, terraced courtyards, mews and crescent homes.

At its heart is a walled garden apartment complex to the west of the mansion on which the new buildings are arranged.

Designed to exceed Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and to meet the requirements of Lifetime Homes and the London wheelchair standards, this complex development combines modern design standards with the challenges of traditional elevations including complex articulation in carefully modelled brickwork inspired by Sir John Soane.  The classically designed buildings are being constructed in brick and stone topped with penthouse pavilions set under bronze roofs.
