WIXAMS

Wixams (Villages 1-5) located in Bedfordshire is amongst the largest new communities in the UK.

Clague have provided masterplanning & architectural services on different Phases and workstreams at Wixams at various times on since 2007.

The masterplan will create a new market town at Wixams, divided into 5 villages with a total of 6000 homes, clustered around a major town centre. The project also includes 6 schools, an employment area and a new railway connection to London St Pancras.

Working on the Illustrative masterplan involved close collaboration with the engineers and landscape designers involved in the extensive areas of public realm infrastructure including a stunning new village green, a lake and linear parkland.

The services provided by Clague Architects at Wixams included the Village Two Design Code and the detailed design & Planning Approval (RIBA Stages 1-3) for the Mixed Use Local Centre of Village One incorporating Community Building, Retail, Doctors Surgery & Apartments.

We’ve also prepared Illustrative Layouts for Village Two and Wixams Town Centre including placemaking concepts and character studies of Key Nodes within Village Two that could form points of delight within the Masterplan
